i. My name is Jennifer
Finer and I'm a staff
writer at The Jewish
News. Prior to officially coming
on board, I spent two summers
here as a intern.
Just over a year ago, I received
a bachelor's degree in journalism
after completing four years at
Michigan State University. In
college, I free-lanced and covered
the Lansing political scene for
papers around the state.
Here at the JN , I cover the
singles and young adults scenes
in "The Next Generation," our
new section for the 20-something
crowd.
In addition, I cover politics,
the Jewish Community Center,
Jewish Family Service and Jew-
ish Vocational Service. I also
write "Politically Speaking," a

And, if I had a choice, I'd cre-
ate a Billy Joel beat and seek out
stories in warm and exciting lo-
cations like Arizona and Cali-
fornia.
I am a native Detroiter and a
graduate of West Bloomfield
High School. I enjoy mountain
biking, tennis, following profes-
sional sports like baseball (I
found a Jewish angle to opening
day at Tiger Stadium), hanging
out with friends, and — not to
dwell on it, but — listening to
Billy Joel.
I look forward to spending the
High Holidays with my grand-
parents, parents and younger sis-
