Festival Dancers
Open House

The Festival Dancers have been
residence at the Jewish commu-
nity Center for almost 30 years.
They are an all-woman compa-
ny; they perform a varied reper-
tory that has proved popular with
audiences of all ages.
Festival Dancers invite new-
comers to attend an open house
10-11:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at Maple/
Drake. Technique class, a com-
bination of ballet and jazz, will be
taught by master teacher, Lau-
ren Toth followed by a reperto-
ry demonstration and question
and answer period. There is no
charge.

Dance Classes
In Southfield

The Southfield Cultural Arts Di-
vision of the Parks and Recre-
ation Department willbe offering
two courses in ballroom dance
starting Sept. 20. Classes for be-
ginners will take place Tuesday
evening from 8 to 10 p.m. at the
lower level of the Parks and
Recreation building. A more ad-
vanced course in ballroom dance
will take place in the same loca-
tion on Thursday evening from
8-10 p.m., starting Sept. 22.
This course, taught by Art
Leonard, will concentrate on the
waltz. There will be a certain
amount of time in the class that
deals specifically with dancing for
the wedding party and their
guests. There is a fee.
A belly dancing class will be-
gin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20, in the
Parks and Recreation building.
Participants are advised to wear
leotards and tights, or sweats
with soft slippers.

Gallery Walk
In Plymouth

The Plymouth Art Community
will host a weekend gallery walk
Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and 2.
Over the past two years, Ply-
mouth has added many new gal-
leries and shops and is becoming
its own art community with over
12 galleries.
A taste of local restaurants will
also be hosted by each gallery.
A silent auction will be held at
each gallery, giving the public an
opportunity to own a variety of
art at auction while a portion of
the proceeds will benefit the Ply-
mouth Community Arts Council.
