They are all from the east — New York or New Jersey — and they all have a major interest in Jewish edu- cation. Rabbi Daniel Nevins began his duties Aug. 1 as assistant rabbi at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Rab- bi Herbert Yoskowitz led services last weekend for the first time at Congregation Beth Achim. And Rabbi Steven Weil will lead ser- vices Aug. 27 as the new spiritu- al leader at Young Israel of Greenfield. Rabbi Weil, 29, has major goals in mind for Young Israel. He hopes to give more support to its youth department and youth pro- grams, and further develop the adult education program. "We want to relate more to the greater community at large," he said. He has plans to bring major Jewish speakers to Detroit under the auspices of YI-Greenfield or the Jewish community. Rabbi Well is a native of Lyn- donville, N.Y., 50 miles from Buf- falo, where his family runs a cattle business. "We were in that business in Germany before Hitler," the rabbi said. Rabbi Nevins' wife, Lynn, is from Madison, Wis., and has taught Hebrew and public school. She may concentrate here on her career as a ceramacist. The Nevins have no children "yet," the rabbi said. ❑
