IN RUSSIA, the celebration
would be for two or three days ...
And marriages were usually per-

But things are a lot different
in America than 1967 when
Tamara and Eugene Friedman
were wed in Luov.
The beautiful setting of Birm-
ingham Country Club and a rab-
bi under a chuppah was the
beginning of a fun-filled marital
ceremony and reception for their
daughter, Gabrielle, and Ben
Heller.
And it was most fitting that
Gabby's twin sister, Adida,
should catch the bridal bouquet

... they are so close.
Along with Tamara and Eu-
gene, 180 guests had a lot to be
thankful for that their close
friend, Noreen Aberly, took over
as party planner to make sure
everything went off correctly ...
The interesting slide-show pre-
sentation by photographer Gary
Miller, of Gabby and Ben in days
prior to their marriage, was nov-
el and entertaining ... Also dif-
ferent were the throw-away
cameras at each table so folks
could take pictures of others and
leave the clickers behind for de-
veloping.
The four-tiered cake by Sweet
Dreams became three layers as
the top fell off ... Kay Masuda's
flowers were choice ... Plus a very
lively three-piece Russian band
and singer, d.j. Stuart Rogoff
spun a lot of good listening and
dancing melodies ... The band's
music was so peppy that when a
couple of folks fell, it seemed like
part of a dance.
People came from many places
in Europe and America to join
this and second-day festivities
when Tamara's parents, Mara
and Harry Lenchner were feted
on their 50th anniversary at Po-
tomac Club ... About 100 had a
happy time as they spent festive
non-stop moments to music by
the same band Tamara and Eu-
gene had hired out of Chicago.
A lot of frivolity ... Russia was
never like this ... Freedom of
happiness is sure a great thing.
