Judith Grant Granader has been
named chairperson of the annu-
al testimonial dinner dance of the
Dr. John J. Mames Chapter-
Michigan Region of the Ameri-
can Red Magen David for Israel
(ARMDI), Israel's Red Cross Ser-
vice. The event will take place
6 p.m. Oct. 2nd at Adat Shalom
Synagogue honoring the Holo-
caust survivors and children of
the survivors.
Mrs. Granader has been in-
volved with the Jewish Commu-
nity since 1971, when she
attended the World Conference
on Soviet Jewry in Brussels, Bel-
gium. After the conference she
helped found the Detroit Com-
mittee on Soviet Jewry. Mrs.
Granader helped plan the activ-
ities to raise funds to rescue the
children from Chernobyl. She is
involved with Shvut Ami in
Jerusalem helping Soviet Jewish
Olim integrate into Israeli soci-
ety. She visited the former Sovi-
et Union, bringing food and
clothing to refuseniks in Rega,
Vilna and St. Petersburg.
She is president of the Soviet
Jewish Prisoner Information
Center. She has been involved
at Hillel Day School, working
with the students on the issues
of Soviet Jewry and Israel.
The dinner honoring the sur-
vivors will aid Magen David
Adorn Blood Service Center in
Ramat Gan and their emergency
medical, ambulance and blood
services.

Rabbi M. Robert Syme of Temple Israel is a former recipient of ZOA's
Brandeis Award and past president of Metro Detroit ZOA. He has been
cited by numerous local and national organizations for his leadership on
