names."
He believes that the closing of
the national office brings new
challenges, but that the funda-
mental nature of the Ann Arbor
NJA is still there.
"We want NJA in our lives," he
says, "We want to keep it going."
Even with peace coming to the
Middle East and a Democrat in
the White House, "There will al-
ways be a need for progressive
politics in this world," Ms. Kraut
says.
"When is our work over? When
the Messiah comes, and we all
know that's not any day soon."

Phillip Stollman

Phillip Stollman, who with his
brother and sister-in-law, Max
and Frieda Stollman, founded
Bar-Ilan University and its De-
troit Friends organization, will
be honored by the university at a
gala dinner to be held Oct. 5 at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
The milestone event comes as
Bar-Ilan opens its 40th academ-
ic year and marks the world-wide
kick-off of the university's year
long celebration. The evening
also marks the celebration of Phil
Stollman's 90th year.
Bar-I-Ian's Chancellor, Rabbi
Emanuel Rackman, and its ex-
ecutive vice president, General
Yehuda Halevy, will be part of
the dinner program. More than
20 Detroiters, who have joined
the inaugural class of the Uni-
versity's Presidential Founders
Society, will be cited.
