The American Friends of the He-
brew University-Michigan Chap-
ter will sponsor the Scopus
Award Gala, honoring Barbara
and Harold Berry, 6 p.m. Sept.
18 at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek.
The event will feature the es-
tablishment of the Berry Schol-
arship Fund at the Rothberg
School for Overseas Students.
Mr. and Mrs. Berry, of Bloomfield
Hills, are native Detroiters with
a long history of involvement in
the Jewish community. Mr.
Berry is the former chairman of
the real estate and building divi-
sion of the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign, past chairman of the
Jewish Theological Seminary of
American Michigan cabinet, and
past president of Shaarey Zedek.
He is a board member of the
Jewish National Fund, State of
Israel Bonds and the Cohn-Had-
dow Center for Judaic Studies,
among others, and chairman of
the Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Berry is a board member
of the Federation's Women Divi-
sion, president of the Sherwood
group of Hadassah, a Sinai Guild
board member and past chair-
man of the Jewish Family Ser-
vice Study Committee.

"Alienation and Redemption: A
Close Look at Cain and Abel," a
text-study series led by Ruth
Bergman, concludes at the
Midrasha Center for Adult Jew-
