An exhibit, "Precious Posses-
sions," at the library of the Jew-
ish Theological Seminary,
contains items from distin-
guished Italian collections of
manuscripts and books which
date back to the 15th through
18th centuries.
Works by Oscar Kokoschka
can be seen at the Guggenheim
Museum, and works by Dali and
Picasso are on exhibit at the Met-
ropolitan Museum of Art. Also
on view this summer is the An-
nenberg Collection of Impres-
sionist and Post-Impressionist
Paintings. Visitors can enjoy the
museum's Roof Garden through-
out the summer.
In a campaign to promote trav-
el to New York this year, the city
has a vacation package (to Sept.
5) which includes a two-night ho-
tel stay, with parking and break-
fast, admission to a Broadway
play, a city or boat tour, plus sev-
eral other benefits.
Singles, and others, can meet
people through some of the class-
es, tours and folk dance sessions
held in the city.
On Thursdays, the Millinery
Center Synagogue has a free
lunchtime session called "The

Timeless Torah." You can attend
a Maimonides class on Saturdays
(6 p.m.) at the West side Jewish
Center. On Tuesdays there is a
Torah and Tea (1-2 p.m.) at
Shaare Zedek Synagogue. On
Wednesdays, you can spend
lunchtime on Wall Street with
a group discussing "The Living
Torah." 363-2977.
Living History tours are con-
ducted every Sunday on the low-
er east side and include a video
tour, a slide show, and a walking
tour. For information contact the
Lower East Side Tenement Mu-
seum, 431-0233.
Another guided tour, and slide
presentation, on the lower east
side, is scheduled on Sundays at
the newly restored Eldridge
Street Synagogue, 219-0888.
Israeli folk dancing is available
on Mondays at the Workmen's
Circle (45 E. 33rd St.), and on
Thursdays at the Lincoln Square
Community Center (250 W. 65th
St.).
New York is a haven for
kosher gourmets this summer.
There are kosher restaurants
serving vegetarian (Vege Vege
II), Indian (Madras Mahal), Chi-
nese (China East), Mediter-
ranean (La Kasbah), Italian (Bis
Bas), and all sorts of other inter-
esting foods. In addition, New
York has an excellent kosher
cruise around Manhattan, where
gourmet meals are served, along

with fine entertainment.
