After working at several odd
jobs, later followed by chemical
plants, Ms. Selman learned her
trade and decided to open her
own waste prevention company.
"I did everything I could at
those chemical plants," she said.
"I did everything from hosing
down the floors to making deliv-
eries. I did what I could to learn
the business."
Waste Advantage is working
on a software program for corpo-
rations which want to learn how
to save money.
"My company is not about re-
cycling or treating waste," Ms.
Selman said. "It concentrates on
how to generate less waste. I
want industry to know waste is
not a necessary evil of produc-
tion." ❑
