Appelman Harlene Winnick Appelman, di- rector of education services for . the Agency for Jewish Education, will receive the seventh annual Berman Award for Outstanding Professional Service at the Aug. ' 31 meeting of the Jewish Feder- ation Board of Governors. Created by Mandell L. and Madeleine H. Berman, the award is presented to a Jewish commu- nal professional employed by the Jewish Federation of Metropoli- . tan Detroit or one of its agencies. The award is intended to promote and reward extraordinary pro- ) fessional service. Mrs. Appelman has been teaching, directing and creating family education programs for agencies and congregations for thepast 10 years. With several publications to \,,her credit, Mrs. Appelman is a 7. consultant to a variety of Jewish organizations, an adviser to a city-wide newspaper devoted to children and their families and has delivered lectures and con- ducted workshops and seminars throughout the U.S. and over- seas.
