JANET MOSES from Congre-
gation Shir Tikvah was recent-
ly selected to attend the Institute
in Jewish Educational Leader-
ship for New Principals. Ms.
Moses is among the 20 religious
school principals from the Unit-
ed States chosen to participate in
a program designed to prepare
them to be effective educational
leaders in their schools.

SOL SILVERSTEIN, SAM
FISCHER and BELLA SHUL-
MAN were among 47 local resi-
dents recognized for their work
as part of the Senior Service
Corps of the Jewish Vocational
Service. The three have each put
in a minimum of 14 years of ser-
vice.

JOAN SHAPIRO of Bloomfield
Hills is a finalist for the Romance
Writers of America RITA award,
presented annually to authors in
several categories for their writ-
ing excellence. Ms. Shapiro is a
finalist for her book, Hello, Love
in the Best First Book category.

N. BREWSTER BRODER of
West Bloomfield has been elect-
ed to serve a three year term on
the board of directors of the
Southeastern Michigan Chapter
of the American Red Cross.

SERGEY KRY1VIOLD and
DAVID SMITH are recipients
of scholarships awarded by Hil-
lel of Metro Detroit. Mr. Krym-
/- gold received the Max Carp
Scholarship. He is a student at
Oakland University and the vice
president of the Jewish Students
Organization.
Mr. Smith received the Diren-
feld Family Scholarship. He also
is a student at Oakland Univer-
sity and was elected president of
the Jewish Students Organiza-
tion. He was recognized by the
/-) Federation of Metropolitan De-
troit as the individual who so-
licited the greatest number of
new gifts during the Days of De-
