CREATING A HIGHER STANDARD
JCC Bagel Run
In Ann Arbor
The Seond Annual JCC Bagel
Run sponsored by the Jewish
Community Center of Washte-
naw County will be held at
Gallup Park Aug. 7 starting at
9 a.m. The event consists of a 5K
(3.5 miles) Run/Walk and a one-
mile Famly Fun Run/Walk with
strollers included.
There is an entry fee which in-
cludes a T-shirt, rafilt, the awards
and post-race refreshments. T-
shirts are free to all those who
pre-register. T-shirts also will be
on sale at the race.
The JCC Bagel Run is being
sponsored by Barry's Bagel Place
and the Jewish Community Cen-
ter. Proceeds will send local youth
to the North American JCC Mac-
cabi Games, an international pro-
gram for Jewish athletes, ages 13
to 16.

Candidates
The deadline for petitioning for
candidacy on the Hillel of Metro
Detroit Council has been ex-
tended to July 29. For those in-
terested, you must be a Jewish
young adult living in the metro-
politan Detroit area between the
ages of 18 and 30 eyars. Candi-
dates should submit a letter of
intent which incudes the candi-
date's name, address, telephone
number, why she/he should be
elected, what direction she/he
would like to see HMD take, and
any other relevant informaiton.
Petitions for candidacy should
