tained Frank Casadi from Pep-
pina's...Today, he is its head
waiter.

room managers in the Midwest

ture that oozes of such graceful

"The 12th Street Boys", a group
of about 20 friends since boyhood
who'll get together for a private
weekend of shindiging Aug. 5, 6
& 7, with guys coming from Cal-
ifornia, Iowa, Nebraska, Florida
and Nevada ... It'll be a private
second annual reunion held at
three different locales on the
three evenings ... Committee is
made up of Ruth and Bernie
Moss, Sandy Zack and Irene and
Nate Light.

Buddy returns to Arriva Italia
Ristorante on 12 Mile between
Mound and Van Dyke for a five-
day gig, Oct. 18 thru 22.
Arriva is filled with entertain-
ment and wonderful dining ...
Big sleeper is Franco Viola from
Palermo, Italy, singing upstairs

Monday thru Saturday evenings
... He accompanies himself on pi-
ano and keyboard synthesizer
that includes a new goodie which
also allows Franco to duo with
himself ... His romantic tunes
are an excellent compliment to
the good food and service at Ar-
riva.
Downstairs each Wednesday
evening is the only true jazz club
of its kind that I know of ... There
may be one or two more, but sure
not like this ... The Johnny
'Pruden Jazz Club at Arriva, with
Johnny on trumpet; Jack Bro-
kensha, vibes; Matt Michaels, pi-
ano; Ray Tini, bass guitar; Larry
Nozero, sax; and Jeff 'Pruden,
Johnny's son, drums; plus San-
dra Mandrella, vocals, play to big
crowds every week.
People appreciate Sandra's
wonderful song-styling, and her
rendition of "I Wish You Love"
among other numbers is extra-
choice ... When Arriva co-own-
er Sam Locriccio comes down to
join in with Sandra, it gives the
crowd another bang, like when
they do their "Making Whoopie".
The fellows in Johnny
Trudell's group play a fine kind
of jazz, not heavy or ultra-pro-
gressive, and it has gotten to be-
come a "must" for many celebrity
musicians appearing in this lo-
cale to come and sit in with them.
FIVE TOP scholars out of 500
students recently graduated
Warner Middle School ... Among
them, 14•year-old Renee Shoichet
was the only girl, graduating
with all A pluses and one plain
lil or A ... Her grade average was
a whopping 4.0 ... Renee is the
daughter of proud Rosalyn and
Leon Shoichet.
