Countrywide Funding Corporation now has
10 offices in the metropolitan area.
STEVE STEIN STAFF WRITER
C
ountrywide Funding Cor-
poration has opened new
offices in Farmington Hills,
Waterford and Detroit, giv-
ing the nation's largest mortgage
lender and servicer 10 retail
branches in the metropolitan
area.
An open house was held last
week at the Detroit office, locat-
ed in the Bel Air Centre at 9510
East Eight Mile, but it has been
a busy place since it opened in
May.
`That branch has had the most
dramatic start of any of the four
offices I've opened in the Detroit
area," said Beth Grossman, re-
gional vice president of Country-
wide's retail division in Michigan
and Indiana.
"We were taking applications
before that branch even opened,"
Ms. Grossman said. "It's obvious
that was an under-serviced mar-
ket." The Detroit office is spe-
cializing in Countrywide's House
America program for low and
moderate income home buyers.
Countrywide plans to fund $5 bil-
lion in House America loans this
year.
The Farmington Hills branch,
located in the Orchard 12 Plaza
at 27855 Orchard Lake Road, is
"It's obvious that
was an under-
serviced market."
Beth Grossman
managed by Gail Butcher, who
spent the past three years in the
Livonia office. That branch was
named Countrywide's most im-
proved in the nation in 1993.
The Waterford office is in the
Sashabaw Corners shopping cen-
ter at 4292 Dixie Highway.
Countrywide, which recently
was approved as a lender by the
Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit's Neighborhood Pro-
ject, is celebrating its 25-year
anniversary in 1994. Other Michi-
gan branches are located in Ann
Arbor, Grand Rapids, Lathrup
Village, Novi, Plymouth and Troy.
Headquartered in Pasadena,
Calif., Countrywide has more
than 350 branches across the na-
tion.
