Jean Hollander Jean Hollander, past chair- man of the Southfield Arts Coun- cil, died July 14. "Jean was one of the moving forces in planning cultural arts for the city," said longtime friend Larry Pernick. "She helped or- ganize the Arts Council, which was so effective that when it was dissolved it had to be replaced by a whole department with a paid staff." Ann Pernick recalls that Ms. Hollander was one who "was unstinting in her de- votion to the city. She was ex- tremely generous with her time and talent." Among Ms. Hollander's many other involvements with city functions were her positions as past secretary of the Southfield Board of Education and past president of the secretarial union ADA ABRAMSON, of the Southfield Public Schools. Ms. Hollander was a member of Congregation Beth Achim and a member of the Order of the Gold- en Chain.
