day at the Burton Historical Col-
lection of the Detroit Public Li-
brary June 20 from 1-9 p.m.
The collection requests that a
minimum of belongings be
brought into the department.
Photocopying is limited; please
bring ample writing supplies.
Photo identification is required
when requesting certain docu-
ments.
Parking is suggested at either
the Detroit Science Center or the
Detroit Institute of Arts. For in-

Ruth Bergman

The United Synagogue of Con-
servative Judaism, the associa-
tion of Conservative synagogues,
has promoted Ruth Bergman to
executive director of the Michi-
gan Region. Ms. Berman works
with rabbis, educators and lay
leaders to develop dynamic and
relevant programs for the Con-
servative synagogues of Michi-
gan. She also serves as a resource
person and liaison to the central
office in New York.
Upcoming regional programs
now being planned by Ms.
Bergman for the Michigan Re-
gion include the October schol-
ar in residence program with
Rabbi Moshe Tutnauer, jointly
coordinated with other area or-
ganizations, a leadership train-
ing Shabbaton at Butzel
Conference Center in February,
a conference and workshop on
marriage within the faith, Nov.
20, and "The Synagogue as a
Business," an everything you
need to know program about pay-
roll reporting, personnel con-
tracts, endowments and
investments April 30.
