Fresh Air
Annual Meeting

The 92nd annual meeting of the
Fresh Air Society and election of
officers will take place August 14
at 1:30 p.m. at Camp Maas, be-
ginning at the Donors Court. The
program will include dedications
of the two new villages, Kadima
and Frontier, the Sophia Blanche
Schwartz Cabin, the Rosen Fam-
ily Zip Line, Charles L. Dodge
Tennis Program, and the Tree of
Life Sculpture, the last honoring
the donors of the new trees at the
newly constructed villages and
designed by Maas artist in resi-
dence, Irving Berg.
Nominated for a first three-
year term as directors are: Don-
ald Sherman, Ronald Charfoos,
Susan Tapper, Lisa Lis, Nancy
Triest, Ellen Berlin and Eric Bo-
rofsky. Nominated to serve a sec-
ond three-year term are: Ronald
Sollish and Leonard Newman.
The following officers are nomi-
nated for a one-year term of of-
fice: president: Edward Lumberg;
vice presidents: Diane Klein and
Henry Wineman II; treasurer:
Jeffrey Sternberg; secretary: Bar-
bara Eisenberg.

Offers Classes

Storytelling Under the Trees is a
story time for children ages 3-5.
This series meets Thursdays,
3:30-4:30 p.m., July 21-28. There
is a fee.
Exercise and stretching led by
aerobics instructor Laurie Gold-
stein begin and end Stretch &
Stroll, Tuesdays, 9:45-11 a.m.,
July 19-Aug. 16. There is a fee.
Memory making, crafts and
storytelling are just a few tech-
niques employed by Susan Barr,

Chabad Lubavitch of Michigan,
in conjunction with the Detroit
Council of Rabbis, will host a
tribute to the Lubavitcher rebbe
Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson.
The tribute, accompanied by a
se'udat-mitzvah dinner, will be
6:30 p.m. July 21 in the Ramada

Hotel, 17017 West Nine Mile
Road, Southfield.
Guest speaker will be Rabbi
Ezra Schochet, Rosh Yeshiva of
Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon Chabad,
Los Angeles.
The tribute will honor the 30
days since the passing of the
rebbe. The dinner will mark four
events: completion of study of the
entire Mishna by the Detroit Jew-
ish Community, for the
Shloishim for the Rebbe; com-
pletion of the entire Rambam
during the "last 12 months by
Jews around the world, comple-
tion of the entire Talmud by
Lubavitcher rabbis worldwide;
completion of the learning entire
laws of Shabbos of the Rav's
Shulchan Oruch, by heart, by a
class of 14-16 year old students
of the Detroit Lubavitch Cheder.
The speaker, Rabbi Schochet
has acted as Rosh Hakollel of the
Radomsker Kollel in Jerusalem
and senior professor of talmudic
studies at Ner Israel, Toronto, be-
fore being appointed to his pre-
sent position.
There is a charge for the din-

Machon L'Torah will sponsor a
special educational Tisha B'Av
program July 17 at noon at the
learning center.
Rabbi Avrohom Jacobovitz will
speak on "God's Shiva Call to the
Jewish People."
There is no charge for the
event. In the spirit of the day, all
participants are asked to wear
non-leather shoes, dress modest-
ly, bring a cushion of pillow for
floor seating.
