immy Bittker, a retired dentist Kerimova Khasiba
rakes stones.
from Bloomfield Hills, had nev-
er built a playground.
When he heard the Jewish
Community Center was looking for volunteers
to build one at the Jimmy Prentis Morris build-
ing, he jumped at the opportunity.
"I enjoy working with my hands and I know
about 'construction," Dr. Bittker said. "I enjoy
projects like this. I'm having a lot of fun partici
pating in a worthwhile cause and I'm learning
something."
Over the July 4 weekend, the biblical theme
playground was completed by hundreds of com-
munity volunteers and supervised by Learning
-
Structures, a New Hampshire-based company.
It has since been inspected and is open for use.
Jewish Community Center employees joined
maintenance workers on Friday afternoon to be-
gan the initial work.
