We are continuing to make donation pickups as before, but cannot, unfortu- nately, accept clothing or anything that RS ENHANCES TRIBUTE PROGRAM New categories for donating to the JFS TRIBUTE PROGRAM were recent- ly adopted by Jewish Family Service and will be acknowledged accordingly in the agency's quarterly newsletter. Jewish Family Service is very excited about a new program it is sponsoring, Project Mitzvah. The goal of Project Mitzvah is to reduce the level of isolation many older adults experience by connect- ing them with individuals, families and/or organizations who are interested in enhancing the quality of their own life while bringing joy to the life of an older adult. Project Mitzvah allows individuals, families and/or organizations to partici- pate in a variety of volunteer activities that do not require large blocks of time. There are many areas in which volunteers can greatly enhance the quality of life of an older adult: friendly visiting, the cele- bration of holidays with nursing home residents and telephone reassurance. Project Mitzvah is seeking pledges for 12, 18 or 36 (or more!) hours of volunteer service during 1994. For more information, please contact Elina Zilberberg, JFS/RS Volunteer Services Program Manager at 559-1500. AROUND THE COMMUNITY The Annual Stars of David picnic is set for Sunday, July 10th at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, from 12 noon to 4:00 pm. All food must be either dairy or pareve. Each family should bring their own lunch. Snacks and treats will be provided by Stars of David. Stars of David is a Jewish support group for adop- tion. The Board and Staff of Jewish Family Service wish a hearty Mazal Toy to Carolyn Davidson, JFS Intake Coordinator, for being recognized as a community leader by the Metropolitan Detroit Federation of Reform Synagogues.
