will be displayed in the atrium of
The Trowbridge, a senior retire-
ment community, 24111 Civic
Center Drive, Southfield, through
July 29. These are contemporary
watercolors of garden delights.
The display, which is open to
the public daily from 9 a.m. un-
til 5 p.m., is under the auspices
of the Cultural Arts Division of
the city of Southfield.

Southfield
Plans Concerts
The Southfield Parks and Recre-
ation Cultural Arts Division will
present jazz master, conductor,
pianist, saxophone player, Teddy
Harris Jr. and His New Breed Be
Bop Orchestra as a special attrac-
tion in the Summer Concert
Series on July 13 at 7 p.m. This
free big band jazz celebration will
take place at the Burgh Gazebo,
located at Berg Road and Civic
Center Drive in Southfield. Din-
ners will be available for pur-
chase between 6 and 7:30 p.m.
Concert-goers are advised to
bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Ben Moore and the Blues Ex-
press wil be part of the Southfield
Summer Concert Series on July
17 at 7 p.m. This free blues cele-
bration will take place at the Pru-
dential Sun Bowl, located behind
the 3000 Prudential Town Cen-
ter, off of Civic Center Drive. Con-
cert-goers are advised to bring
lawn chairs or blankets. In case
of rain, the concert will be moved
to the Atrium of the 3000 Pru-
dential Building.
Village Marks
Emancipation
Stories of courage and songs of
freedom bring African-American
history to life as Greenfield Vil-
lage presents "A Celebration of
Emancipation" July 25-26.
Highlighting Village structures
and stories that explore the lives
of African-American families, this
special weekend focuses on the
hopeful resourcefulness of
African-American men, women
and children during times of slav-
ery and freedom.
Admission to "A Celebration of
Emancipation" and all special
weekend programs is included
with regular Village admission.
