Goldman of Bloomfield Hills joined 70 Israel Bonds leaders from communities across the United States and Canada to participate in the annual Israel Bonds Chairmen's Meeting which was held at the Radisson Hotel in Newark. Maddin was installed as president of the Jewish Fed- eration's partner organization, the United Jewish Foundation at its annual meeting. Norman A. Pappas was appointed to succeed Mr. Maddin as chairman of the Federated Endowment Fund. In a part- nership with the Jewish Federation of Michael Maddin Metropolitan Detroit, the Foundation oversees the maintenance of communal properties and manages endow- ment funds. The Federated En- dowment Fund develops new and permanent funds for the Jewish community to ensure the contin- uation of social services and to initiate innovative programs to meet changing needs. A past vice-president of the UJF, Mr. Maddin serves on Fed- eration's board of governors and executive committee and is the recipient of two Federation awards, the Frank A. Wetsman Leadership Award and the William H. Boesky Memorial Award for Outstanding Leader- ship. Mr. Maddin held many Allied Jewish Campaign division and committee chairmanships and was involved in the United Jew- ish Appeal Young Leadership Cabinet, sat on its executive com- mittee and served as regional chairman. He is a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. Mr. Pappas, past vice chair- man of the Federated Endow- ment Fund, served as general chairman of the 1993 Allied Jew- ish Campaign. A recipient of Fed- eration's Frank A. Wetsman Award, he helped create the Fed- eration Forum (previously Eco- nomic Forum) and sits on the Federation board of gov- ernors. Mr. Pappas is a founding member of the Holocaust Memorial Center, chair- man of the Detroit office of Norman Pappas the American Committee for the Weizmann In- stitute of Science and chairman of the Detroit chapter of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. He is a former chairman of the Detroit Friends of Bar-Ilan University and a member of Temple Beth El.
