omen's American ORT
Michigan Region held
its installation lun-
cheon June 23 at Adat
Shalom, with guest speaker Lila
Green. More than 150 guests
attended the event. Cindy
Franklin, outgoing president,
said she is going out of office with
a bang because a new, local ORT
chapter is starting with young
and dynamic women.
Arlene Barris, incoming
president, gave a gracious and
humorous installation speech.
"It's reached a point where I
spend more time with my ORT
friends than my family," she said.
She then chronicled her ORT
history from her first meeting in
a home with no lawn and no
furniture to the national con-
ventions. After her speech, her
husband Bill passed out her new
business cards as Michigan
Region president.
The 1994-1995 elected officers
include: Arlene Barris, Janet
Berman, Sylvia Bernstein,
Gertrude Branin, Irma
Glaser, Sheri Lisagor, Andi
Wolfe, Sandy Stark, Vivian
Zabel and Sarah Feuereisen.
Some of the men who came to the
installation included: Bill Bar-
ris, Donald Barris, Norman
Miller, Harry Ellman and Abe
Berman.

GILDA'S CLUB

Gilda's Club, named for the
late comedienne Gilds Radner,
is a nonprofit psychological sup-
port community for people with
cancer, their families and friends.
Dr. Bill and Florine Mark
Ross will host a friend-raiser re-
ception 5:30-7:30 July 14 at their
home. Tickets are $10.

ily walk and block party. The
walk is being organized by Ed

O.J. AND JUDY

There is more to the O.J.

the world watched O.J. Simpson
flee the police, Richard Kepes,

frantically searching his photo
albums for a picture of his wife,
Judy with O.J. The couple met
O.J. and his late wife, Nicole, on
a 1981 vacation in Mexico.
"He seemed like a great guy,"
Mrs. Kepes said.

DINE IN DETROIT

More than 200 guests wore
their favorite bathrobes to a pre-
view party for the DIA exhibit
"Dine in Detroit: Prints from Lo-
cal Collections." Artist Jim
Dine's trademark is a bathrobe.
Guests received prizes for vari-
ous categories. Elaine Pitt wore
the most eccentric robe, while
Beverly Neumann wore the
most sexy one. David Stulberg
received the prize for the most
treasured one, while Babe Fink
wore the most comfortable robe.
