In Loving Memory of BENJAMIN STERN Senate Approves Aid Package /—) . 0%11171/hr Phone (810) 546-4700 Who passed away June 23, 1991. Sadly missed and always remembered by wife Dora; children Marilyn, Carole, Saul and Lorraine; and grandchildren Scott, Jamie and Amber. Washington (JTA) — Israel's $3 billion aid package came one step closer to passing Congress when a key Senate committee last week sent the foreign aid bill to the full Senate for a vote. The House of Representatives passed a similar measure by record numbers last month. The Senate Appropriations Committee also approved an amendment sponsored by Sens. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., for $80 million in refugee assistance to Israel. A Lautenberg amendment also secured an additional $7 million for the Middle East Regional Co- operative Fund for joint research ventures between Israel and oth- er Middle East states. For the first time, the Senate Appropriations Committee "ear- marked" Israel's aid package, . meaning the United States is ob- ligated to give these funds to Is- rael. Although Congress has never withheld the money after pas- sage, earmarking funds is an im- portant step to ensure that the aid is delivered in future years. We take pride in providing the dignity, sanctity and simplicity of Jewish Funeral services and complete personal and professional care at a reasonable cost. If you choose to follow the Jewish tradition of a graveside or cemetery chapel service, you don't have to pay the extra costs associated with a large funeral home.
