At the 133rd annual meeting of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Dr.
Richard M. Brown was elected
president of the synagogue. He
is the founder of the Park Med-
ical Centers in Lincoln Park and
Detroit. Dr. Brown served as vice
chairman and remains a mem-
ber of the board of directors of the
University of Osteopathic Medi-
cine and Health Services, Des
Moines. He is the former chief of
staff of Michigan Health Center,
Zeiger Osteopathic Hospital,
Botsford General Hospital and
Detroit Central Hospital.
Serving with Dr. Brown are
Alan S. Schwartz, first vice pres-
ident; Dottie Wagner, second vice
president; Lawrence Berry, trea-
surer; and James A. Safran, sec-
retary. Newly elected board
members are Isaac Engelbaum,
Martin Gene and Miriam Gold-
berg.

Religious School
Registration

The Beth Achim branch of the
Congregational Religious School
will offer early registration for the
1994-1995 school year. Classes
are scheduled to begin Septem-
ber 11; registrations are being ac-
cepted.
This year, kindergarten and
first grade are tuition free. Only
books and material fees will be
charged for these classes.
The Beth Achim branch of the
Congregational Religious school
has classes for children beginning
with kindergarten through the
post bar/bat mitzvah age.
The Congregational Religious
School also offers Judaica class-
es for students grades 8-10. This
program is designed around a
high school atmosphere in which
students participate and are able
to experience all walks of Jewish
life.
