Young Adult
Annual Meeting

The Young Adult Division of the
Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit will hold its 56th an-
nual meeting 7:30 p.m. June 13
at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Suzan F. Curhan has been nom-
inated as president for the 1994-
95 Campaign year.
The evenings program will fea-
ture Mark Talisman, founding
vice chairman of the United
States Holocaust Memorial
Council, who oversaw the suc-
cessful opening of the United
States Holocaust Museum.
A dessert reception will be held
in the Kresge Court, and there is
a charge for the gathering. Con-
tributors to the 1994 Allied Jew-
ish Campaign are eligible to
attend.

Berman Award
Nominations Open

Nomination are being accepted
for the seventh annual Berman
Award for Outstanding Profes-
sional Service.
Created by Mandell L. and
Madeleine H. Berman, the award
will go to a Jewish communal
professional employed by the
Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit or one of its agencies.
The award, which will be pre-
sented at the August meeting of
Federations board of governors,
is intended to promote and re-
ward extraordinary professional
service. The Bermans established
the award through the Federat-
ed Endowment Fund of the Jew-
ish Federation.
Nominees for the Berman
Award must have worked in the
Detroit Jewish community a min-
imum five years. They must have
demonstrated the highest pro-
fessional standards in their cho-
sen field, made a contribution to
the general good of the Jewish
community and demonstrated
leadership and innovation in the
profession. Nominees also must
have applied creativity, dedica-
tion, knowledge and care to pro-
viding services to the community.
Nominations for the Berman
Award may be submitted by let-
ter by letter to the selection corn-
mittee no later than July 1. A
committee of lay leaders and pro-
fessional colleagues will select the
award winner. names of the nom-
inees will remain confidential,
and they may be renominated in
subsequent years.
