sumed milk from non-kosher
animals, such as horses, the rab-
bis mandated that milk and
dairy products must be kosher.
Most rabbis have ruled that
when Jews live in a society where
the gentiles themselves are care-
ful about drinking unadulterated
cows' milk, Jews may consume
such milk without kashrut
supervision.
In this country, all states
strictly regulate the production
and sale of milk, and consumers
can be certain the milk they buy
— unless otherwise stated —
comes from cows only.
Nonetheless some Jews, most
of them Lubavitch, do continue
to require chalav Yisrael super-
vision, so the additional heksher
can be seen on some kosher dairy
products.

WEEKLY WORLD
Q: Are any Jewish senators really
space aliens?
A: Thank goodness we in the
Jewish community have been
spared this terrible problem run-
ning rampant throughout the
United States.
The Weekly World News re-
ports this week that 12 U.S. sen-
ators are in fact space aliens.
"It's all true," Sen. Phil
Gramm, R-Texas, told the pres-
tigious journal. "We are space
aliens. I'm amazed that it's taken
you so long to find out."
"As chairman of the Senate In-
telligence Committee, I am quite
distressed," added Sen. Dennis
DeConcini of Arizona. "My highly
classified cover has been blown."
The list comprises men and
women, Republicans and Demo-
crats, Northerners and South-
erners — but no Jews.
But there remains cause for
concern.
Among the identified space
aliens: Sen. William Cohen of
Maine.
Sen. Cohen is the son of a Jew-
ish father and gentile mother,
and a member of the Unitarian
Church. His extraterrestrial ori-
gin is still unknown.
