Dear Dr. Beitman:
I wouldlike to cortund you and your staff on a job well done. I am very pleased with
taff. Being a Manager of a Customer Support De-
my experiences with you and yours
partment, I expect the best from my employees when it comes to providing good cus-
tomer service. I also expect excellent service whenever I am the customer. I felt that
the service received at your office exceeded my expectations.

very pleasant. After watching the video, reading the various pion
with Peggy and yourself, I felt very comfortable with my decision to have RK per-
log
formed at your office. Julie, Carla, Nat and Sue just made the experience even more e
pleasant (I hope I remembered all their names correctly). The personalities a of
thes 's
doctor
individuals actually made the experience fun (it's hard to believe that going to onal and
office can be fun). During the tests and examinations, your staff was professi o very
personable. The conversations and joking that we had made the testing process g

quickly.
The actual surgery itself was painless and much quicker than I had imagined. I am
definitely a "big chicken" when it comes to having anyone (including me) near my eyes.'
was amazed that I made it through the surgery on my first eye, and still had the desire
to have my second eye done. In the back of my mind, I thought for sure that I might not
have enough nerve to return to have my other eye done. Considering' actually was look-
ing forward to my second surgery, you and your staff must have done a good job.

It has really been fantastic to be able to do whatever I want without wearing glasses. I
am still not used to going through the day without them. I find myself trying to adjust
though I am not wearing them. Hopefully, I will be able to break this
even
my
glasses,
habit
soon. Having people watch me reaching for glasses that don't exist is getting very

embarrassing.
I would be happy to talk to any of your future clients regarding you, your staff and RK.

Feel free to give them my number.

Sincerely, Joseph K. Chriss

CHOOSE A
BUILDER
WrFH CARE

rather than in writing, take notes.
Never hesitate to ask a question for
fear of sounding stupid or unin-
formed. What seems like a stupid
question might yield an informative
answer.

If you are in the market for a new
home, shop for your builder as thor-
oughly as you shop for the home it-
self. Whether you are buying a
condominium, a townhouse, a house
in a subdivision or a custom-built
house, the quality of your home will
be determined by the quality of the
builder.
The real estate section of your lo-
cal newspaper is a good place to start.
Reading it over, you can find out
which builders are active in your
area, what types of homes are being
built and what price you might ex-
pect to pay.
In addition, the Builders Associ-
ation of Southeastern Michigan has
a list of builders who construct
homes in various areas. Local real es-
tate agents are also often helpful in
conducting the search.
Friends and relatives can provide
useful recommendations. Ask them
about builders they have dealt with
or for the names of their friends who
have recently had a good experience
with a builder.
After making a list of builders,
make notes about their reputation
and quality of work. Recording all fac-
tual information as well as your own
impressions will make comparisons
easier later on.
Perhaps the best way to learn
about builders is to visit homes they
have built and to talk to the owners.
Ask the top builders on your list for
addresses of their recently-built hous-
es. At the very least, drive by to see
if the homes are visually appealing.
Another important factor in se-
lecting a builder is the warranty pro-
vided on the home. Get a copy of the
builder's warranty and read it over.
If you feel you need help under-
standing any aspect of it, take it to an
attorney. Don't wait until you move
in and a problem arises to find out
what coverage you have.
Another thing to find out from a
prospective builder is what kind of
sevice you can expect after the sale.
Typically, a builder makes two ser-
vice calls on a new home. One comes
between one and three months after
move-in, while the other comes at
around 11 months, usually right be-
fore a one-year warranty would ex-
pire. In an emergency, the builder
should send someone to your home
immediately.
Be thorough in choosing your
builder. Ask a lot of questions and
make sure you get specific answers.

REMODELING
EASE

Remodeling makes it possible to up-
grade and expand without moving
and often rewards the investment
with a higher sales price when the
house is put on the market.
In choosing a remodeler, the low-
est price is not always the best
choice. No two remodelers will do
a job exactly the same way. Be as spe-
cific as possible and ask the con-
tractor to specify the materials and
brand names on which he is basing
the estimate. Be especially wary of a
quote significantly lower than the
range indicated by others. With a re-
modeling project, the lowest price of-
ten comes with a sacrifice or
compromise of quality workmanship
or materials, professionalism, time,
supervision, service and follow up.
By the time you decide to hire a
remodeler, you probably already
have a fairly good idea of what you
want the finished job to look like. A
professional remodeler can take your
ideas and recommend the most ef-
fective ways to achieve the results
you are seeking while staying with-
in your budget.
One of the most important things
that can be done to learn about a re-
modeler is to ask for a list of recent
projects he's done that are similar to
yours. He may have done kitchen re-
modeling, but that won't be much of
an indication of how well he can add
an additional level to your home.
Then call the references and vis-
it the site if possible. To be protect-
ed from legal problems, it's important
that you verify that the remodeler has
the licenses and permits required to
build in your city and is properly in-
sured according to Michigan regu-
lations.
A good remodeler will want you
to do your homework before you
sign the contract. In fact, since so
much of a remodeler's business
comes from referrals, a good re-
modeler will do everything he can to
ensure that the job will reflect well
on his company and add one more
customer to his list of satisfied clients.
