The Technion-Israel Institute of
Technology will confer the degree
of Doctor Scientiarum Techni-
carum Honorisw Causa upon Dr.
Joseph N. Epel of Orchard Lake
at its annual International Board
of Governors Meeting in Haifa.
Dr. Epel has been a leader of
the Detroit Chapter, American
Technion Society for virtually his
entire life. He is a past president,
chairman and currently board
member of the Detroit Chapter.
He also is a member of the Tech-
nion International board of gov-
ernors and of the national
American Technion Society. He
has been recognized as an Hon-
orary Fellow of the Technion and
most recently endowed the Beat-
rice and Joseph N. Epel Michi-
gan Dormitory on the Technion
campus.
Dr. Epel is active with a num-
ber of other communal organiza-
tions, including the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan De-
troit and the Anthony Wayne So-
ciety of Wayne State University.
He is past president of the Agency
for Jewish Education, a board
member of the Ecumenical Insti-
tute, of JESSNA, of the Society
of Plastics Industry, of the Soci-
ety of Automotive Engineers and
of the Society of Plastic Engi-
neers.

Keshet Honors
Ronelle Grier

Keshet, an organization for fam-
ilies with special needs, will hon-
or Ronelle Grier, founder, at their
annual fund-raiser. The Evening
of Comedy will take place on
June 8 at Mark Ridley's Comedy
Castle in Royal Oak.
Ms. Grier founded the Detroit
chapter of Keshet in 1991, when,
as the parent of a young daugh-
ter with undiagnosed develop-
mental disabilities, she realized

JFS Hosts
Lecture Series

Jewish Family Service, through
an endowment established by
Reva Stocker, will present the
first lecture of the Reva Stocker
Educational Lecture Series: "The
Family As Healer: 10 Lessons for
Life and Love" 7:30 p.m. June 7
at the Applebaum Parenting
Center, West Bloomfield.
The speaker will be Dr. Paul
Pearsall, former director of the
Sinai Hospital Clinic of Problems
of Daily living.
This lecture is free.

Golf Outing
For ORT

Women's American ORT will
sponsor their annual Golf Outing
June 20 at Bogie Lake Country
Club. The registration fee covers
a continental breakfast, lunch,
golf cart and 18 holes of golf. All
players have a chance to win a
car for a hole in one.
