N

parties), one with dark green
walls, another with striped
walls ... Beige table coverings
pleasantly blend over dark green
linen tablecloths with dark green
linen napkins.
A new bar lounge area for-
merly had a short counter to dis-
pense alcoholic beverages ... Now
it is longer with about 20 stools
and a standup bar for 12 more ...
On the dining room side, three
two-top tables with comfortable
padded arm chairs are against
the green curtain divider.
The new large mirror on
O'Mara's bar back wall proudly
sports its name and logo ... and
a dance floor has been added,
along with live music Thursday,
Friday and Saturday.
Relaxed dining in a pleasant
airy atmosphere, good smiling
service and good food, are among
the keys that make O'Mara's a
place to be.
It serves over 100 pounds of
broiled white fish a week ... over
250 pounds of chicken each week
... scores high in the 90s with the
Oakland County Health Dept. ...
has a cappuccino espresso ma-
chine and coffee bean grinder.
Dining at O'Mara's is more
than just another eating out ex-
perience ... The air of confidence
is all about knowing that it
makes its own potatoes, its own
soups, bakes its own muffins, pre-
pares most of the dressings ...
The O'Mara's seafood chowder is
a winner with vegetable, crab-
meat and shrimp in a soft toma-
to base ... Everything on the
menu can also be carried out ...
the mixture of brown leather arm
chairs and brown cloth arm
chairs are relaxing and comfort-
able.
O'Mara's wine list has seven
house beverages by the glass and
20 by the bottle.
Hours are seven days ... Mon-
day-Thursday 11:30 a.m. to mid-
night; Friday & Saturday 11:30
a.m.-2 a.m.; Sunday 10:30 a.m.-
11 p.m...Kevin's kitchen is open
Sunday-Wednesday til 10 p.m.;
Thurs. to 11 p.m.; Friday & Sat-
urday to midnight ... Sunday
brunch is 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The essence of a good restau-
rant operation embodies all that
Kevin O'Mara wished for ... and
has gotten.
His ambition of one day own-
ing his own restaurant has be-
o me arealiity . i .t.Buet it isn't
nl't
enough for this humble hard-
working young man ... he's only
29 ...Kevin wants someday to
have more than one restaurant
... and will be disappointed if he
doesn't.
He has all the qualities need-
ed for success in the restaurant
world ... a wonderful gracious
personality, the ability to sur-
come himself with key
...very important ... a continued
willingness to learn, the art of be-
ing himself ... and a burning am-

bition to please every person that
enters O'Mara's.
Customers feel this ... and like
it ... Kevin O'Mara's is a restau-
rant success story that hasn't
ended.
THE RUMOR MILL is
wrong again ... Don't believe it
that Nicky's on W. Big Beaver in
the Top of Troy Building con-
course is for sale ... If the place
was, owners Nick Sorise and
John Reaser wouldn't be shelling
out all that dough to remodel the
place ...with new carpeting,
painting, etc.
Folks don't talk much about
having lunch at Nicky's, maybe
keeping it a secret, but it is prob-
ably one of the biggest sleepers
around ... Hard to beat the
seafood linguini with marinara
sauce served by fine employees
like Betty McLeod.
Also against the "for sale" ru-
mor falsity is addition of more
music at Nicky's ... Plus its reg-
ular live entertainment nightly
for dancing, come July it will
have songstress Michelle Goulet
and trio from 7 p.m. on Monday
and Tuesday evenings.
FORMER LOCALITE Mike
Binder's movie Indian Summer
is about two campers who met
many years ago at camp and
were married.
Although Mike also attended
the late Lou Handler's Camp
Tamakwa, I don't think he had
any particular couple in mind ...
Like Donna Jo Sofferin and Stu-
art Farber, who met there 18
years ago and again at the recent
Post.Camp '93.
Donna Jo and Stuart will be
wed, June 12, at Congregation
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses ...
She is the daughter of Harry and
Joan Partrich, and he is the son
of Leonard and Dolores Farber.
RADD IS ON PLAZA at
Town Center has joined the pa-
rade ... and will soon convert its
Bouquet's formal dining into a
casual Italian trattoria to be
called T.C. Linguini's.
HE SAID those famous last
words, "Never again!" ... But that
was before Lou Golden, Com-
modity Steel boss, met Lana
Jerome ... They were recently
wed at a beautiful ceremony in
the Prudential Town Center atri-
um ... followed by a crowded buf-
fet reception upstairs at the
Skyline Club.
DEE SHAPIRO recently
made it 157 trophies after com-
peting in the 31st Detroit Inter-
national Ball at Cobo Hall ... 26
firsts, six seconds and one third.
CONGRATS ... to Ed Cohen
of Professional Floor Covering ...
on his birthday.
PAST MASTERS and Ma-
sons Award Dinner by Perfection
Mosaic Lodge #530, will honor
Sam Topper and its other past
masters, June 26, at Excalibur
Restaurant. ❑
