honor Mr. and Mrs. Abram
Medow at Shabbat services May
21, which has been designated as
Seminary Shabbat. As JTS Sec-
ond Century award recipients,
Mr. and Mrs. Medow will be rec-
ognized for their many contribu-
tions to Congregation Shaarey
Zedek and to the Jewish com-
munity at the community gala
May 23 at Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue.

Abram and Rhoda Medow

is the founder and CEO of Stan-
dard Distributing — a major sup-
plier of health and beauty aids.
He serves as a board member of
the Orchards Childrens Services
and the Labor Zionist Alliance
Organization. Mr. Medow has
been active in Federation Allied
Jewish Campaign fund raising
for many years.
Rhoda Medow worked for 10
years as a social worker at Chil-
drens Hospital of Michigan in the
Cystic Fibrosis Center. Mrs.
Medow is a member of the board
of directors of Fresh Air Society,
a founding member of the Na-
tional Council for Jewish
Women's SPACE Program
(which provides services for wid-
owed, separated and divorced
women). She is a past president
of the Women's Auxiliary of the
Maimonides Medical Society, as
well as having served as a mem-
ber of Camp Ramah in Ontario,
Canada.

exhibition and sale June 9-25.
The gallery is located in the
' Smith Theatre, on the campus of
Oakland Community College, Or-
