Resettlement
For Bosnians

Chicago (JTA) — Reacting to
the protracted bloodshed in
the former Yugoslavia, the
New York-based Hebrew
Immigrant Aid Society and
the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Chicago have
established a program to
resettle Bosnian Muslim
refugees in Chicago.
Two of the Chicago federa-
tion's affiliated agencies, the
Jewish Family and Corn-
munity Service and Mt.
Sinai Hospital Medical
Center, are also playing key
roles in the resettlement
program.
The federation has the
prime contract with the
state of Illinois to administer
the state's program to reset-
tle refugees coming to Il-
linois. During the past
decades, the federation has
resettled tens of thousands
of Jewish and non-Jewish
newcomers from Southeast
Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa
and the Middle East.
