The American Jewish Commit-
tee, Detroit Chapter announces
its 1994-1995 programming
year's slate of officers for this
year's annual meeting. Elections
are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. May
24 at Temple Israel. The follow-
ing will be nominated for officers
and members of the Detroit
Chapter board: officers: president,
Brian J. Kott; vice presidents,
Keith B. Braun, Frederick Frank,
Erica Peresman, Helene White;
treasurer, Martin Mayer. Board
of directors: Reuben Bergman,
Kenneth C. Gold, Kalman G.
Goren, Norman Lewis, George
Mann, Henry H. Politzer, Miri-
am B. Seagle, Barbara Smith.
In addition, a tribute will be
presented to the outgoing presi-
dent, Laurence R. Imerman; and
the evening's program will in-
clude a musical presentation on
youth and violence. Presented by
the Matrix Theatre, the musical
play Beyond Violence was writ-
ten by and includes 15 young peo-
ple living in Southwest Detroit.
High school students may at-
tend at no charge. Adults may

Theater Nights

The Jewish Federation of Met-
ropolitan Detroit is sponsoring
two gatherings at the Jewish En-
semble Theater's upcoming per-
formances of Beau Jest May 22
and 25 at the Maple/Drake Jew-
ish Community Center.
Newcomers to the Detroit area
are invited to join Shalom Detroit,
the welcoming committee of the
Federation Women's Division, at
the production's opening night
performance 7 p.m. May 22.
Members of the Young Adult
Division will attend the 8 p.m.
May 25 performance, which is
preceded by refreshments at 7
p.m.
There will be no solicitation of
Campaign gifts at either perfor-
mance.

cial needs, will hold their
bi-weekly support group meeting
