Using scenes, sto- ries, music and po- etry, "Beyond Vio- lence" depicts the depth to which vio- lence has penetrat- ed every aspect of many young people's lives - in the news, at school resentation was written by and in the street. The two honorees are recipi- ents of the Friends Communi- ty Service Award. Proceeds from the dinner are used to finance scholarships for winners in a contest in which Arabic and Jewish students write essays on what it means to be an American. Marta Rosenthal Pays of Decision Chairmen Named Husband and wife team Benjamin and Marta Rosen- thal will chair the Jewish Federation's Days of Deci- sion, the special appeal on behalf of the 1994 Allied Jewish Campaign, June 5-9. Days of Decision phonathons are aimed at reaching everyone who has not yet made a pledge to the Cam- paign, which funds more than 60 beneficiary agencies. It is the Campaign's final push to raise desperately needed dollars for services to thousands of our people here and around the world. Both Rosenthals hold leadership roles in the Jewish community. Mrs. Rosenthal has served on Federation's Culture and Group Services Division, National Women's Young Leadership Cabinet and the Federation Women's Division board. A recipi- ent of Federation's Sylvia Simon Greenberg Leadership Award, Mrs. Rosenthal haS other affiliations which include Hadassah, Sinai Hospital Guild and National Council of Jewish Women. Mr. Rosenthal received Federation's William H. Boesky Memorial Award and the Frank A. Wetsman Leadership Award. At Federation, he has served on the Community Services Division of which he was chairman, board of governors, executive committee, Commission on Identity and Affiliation, Joint Fiscal Oversight Council and El- der Care Options Committee. Both Rosenthals were bus captains on the Michigan Miracle Mission, and Mr. Rosenthal has been named a co-chairman of the next Miracle Mission. They are members of Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
