Religious Leaders Issue Statement
I
aspired by the United Nations'
declaration of the Interna-
tional Year of the Family,
leading local Jewish, Christian
and Muslim representatives
have issued a statement in sup-
port of families, issued on behalf
of the Religious Leaders Forum.
"Dear families, we stand with
you in your heroic struggle," the
statement reads in part. "So
much depends upon you. Do not
be afraid to be a sign of
God's presence and a
means of divine activity in
a fragmented world. Give
consistent guidance for
faithful living in a culture
marked by inconsistency.
Love, protect and nurture
children in a world that
increasingly devalues, ig-
nores and even abuses chil-
dren."
