Women's Division
Hosts Poupko

"The Ties That Bind" the Jewish
community together will be the
keynote address of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan De-
troit Women's Division 48th an-
nual meeting May 25. The 11
a.m. program, which will be held
at Congregation Beth Achim, will
feature Arna Poupko, who heads
the Department of Living Ju-
daism at the Jewish Education
Council of Montreal and serves
as Judaic consultant to the Mon-
treal Federation.
Ms. Poupko chairs the Educa-
tion Initiatives Committee of the
Montreal Federation Combined
Jewish Appeal, where she devel-
ops programs to enhance the
community's level of Jewish
awareness.
A docrotal candidate in Jewish
studies at McGill University, Ms.
Poupko lectures throughout the
United States and Canada and
serves communal institutions
across North America.
Penny Blumenstein has been
nominated for a second term as
president of the Women's Divi-
sion.
Coffee and registration are at
11. am., and the program at 11:30
a.m. Lunch will be served; there
is a fee. Babysitting will be avail-
able upon request. A sign lan-
guage interpreter also will be
available.
