The distinctive works of artists
Marjorie Hecht Simon and Deb-
orah Hecht will be exhibited at
the Art Center, 125 Macomb
Place, Mt. Clemens, April 29-May
27.
Marjorie Hecht Simon's large
watercolors have been widely ex-
hibited in Chicago and the De-
troit Area. Her figurative, garden
landscape and still life paintings
are represented in numerous cor-
porate and private collections.
Deborah Hecht's painting tech-
nique on ceramic tile was devel-
oped after several years of
painting on canvas and paper.
Her subject matter ranges from
border designs and architectur-
al motifs to still life scenes and
figurative work. She uses over-
glazes on commercial tiles, and
most recently, handmade tiles, to
create a lush, softly textured sur-
face that brings her special brand
of ceramic work alive.
The influence this mother/
daughter pair had had on each
other's artistic work is evident,
yet their distinctive approaches
to solving relationships of color
and design have led to two strong
and independent expressions
that make an interesting mix.
The Art Center is open Tues-
day through Friday 11 a.m.-5
p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
