Naimark, Leikin
Norman Naimark, a member
of the Labor Zionist Alliance, was
its delegate to the 30th, 31st and
32nd World Zionist Congress and
World Labor Party Conferences
in Jerusalem and is presently the
national secretary and member
of the National Executive Com-
mittee of the Labor Zionist Al-
liance. He has been president of
the Detroit Zionist Federation,
Labor Zionist Alliance of Metro-
politan Detroit and founder of the
A. Phillip Randolph Institute -
LZA coalition. He has been a
member of the board of governors
of the Jewish Federation of Met-
ropolitan Detroit and currently
serves on the board of the Jewish
Community Council. Mr.
Naimark is a spokesman for Is-
rael in the Jewish and general
community, a trustee of the
Michigan Housing Trust Fund,
board member of the Michigan
Ezekiel Leikin
Housing Coalition, the Corktown

The speaker of the evening will
be Ambassador Collette Avital,
consul general of Israel in New
York. Ambassador Avital is Is-
rael's highest ranking woman
diplomat and is an expert in me-
dia relations and cultural affairs
Mr. Leikin has had a long ca-
reer in Zionist public service,
spending 48 years of continuous
service with the Zionist Organi-
zation of America and receiving
its highest citation, the Louis
Brandeis Award for "exemplary
service to Zionism and Israel." He
served in the British civil service
in Palestine and was active in
Haganah. Mr. Leikin's essays on
Zionism, Israel and U.S. relations
have been published in newspa-
pers and ideological journals. Mr.
Leikin serves as executive vice-
president of ZOA of Detroit.

adults will hear a talk on "Anti-
Semitism Around the World" 10

Guest speaker will be Sharon
Shapiro, Michigan director of the
American Jewish Committee.
Ms. Shapiro graduated from the
Jewish Theological Seminary,
Hebrew Union College-Jewish In-
stitute of Religion and the Uni-
versity of Cincinnati.
Prior to accepting her current
position, she was assistant direc-
tor of the American Jewish Com-
mittee office in north Texas and
educational director of Congre-
gation Beth Torah in Dallas.
Following the talk, Phyllis
Young will lead a discussion.
Bagels and coffee will be served
at 9:30 a.m.
