birthday this year. As the Home
has aged, so have its residents.
JHA faces the challenge of
keeping elderly Fleischman res-
idents self-sufficient enough to
stay there, instead of leaving for
a nursing home.
"I would like to work with the
staff to develop techniques and
skills for independence," she
said. "The goal is to keep resi-
dents independent for as long
as possible."
Ms. Rosenberg believes her
background in secondary edu-
cation and theater enables her
to "teach my staff all the things
I've learned during my many
years in gerontology...
"You can't teach people to
love old people, but you can
teach people who love old peo-
ple about how to care for them,"
