The Birmingham Temple will
host a Musical Benefit Concert
for the Rabbinic Training Pro-
gram of Humanistic Judaism
May 1, 7:30 p.m. at the temple.
Professional musicians and
temple members Joyce Adelson,
Laurence Liberson, Glenn Mel-
low and Edith Diggory Mellow
will perform an evening of cham-
, ber music to raise funds for the
rabbinic students in the Detroit
area.
Joyce Adelson, pianist, is on
the faculty of Oakland Univer-
sity where she teaches applied
piano, piano ensemble, and
chamber music. Laurence Liber-
son is the assistant principal
clarinetist and E-flat clarinetist
of the Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra. Glenn Mellow, violist,
has been a member of the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra since
1980. Edith Diggory Mellow, so-
prano, is a specialist in the avant
garde. She has appeared as a
soloist with the Detroit, San
Francisco and Indianapolis sym-
phony orchestras.
A dessert reception with the
artists will follow. Tickets are
available by calling the Birm-
