The Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center invites all 9th -
12th graders, along with their
parents, to attend "Choose Life
So That You May Live: A Jew-
ish Family HrV/AIDS Educa-
tional Experience" at the Center
May 4, 11 and 18 from 7 - 9 p.m.
The AIDS educational pro-
gram has been developed in
partnership with the Jewish
Experiences for Families Pro-
gram (JEFF) for junior high
and senior high school youth
and their parents. The program
stresses factual information
about AIDS transmission as
well as the Jewish values.

which will be donated to the

Kishon AZA will sponsor a
dance on 9 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
April 30 at the Rosenberg Com-
plex of the Maple/Drake Jew-
ish Community Center. All
teens are welcome. There is an
admission charge.
On May 1, BBYO will hold
their next Jewish Heritage
event 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the
Maple/Drake. "A Day in the Life
of a Jewish Teen" is the theme.
The program will involve a pan-
el discussion between Jewish
teens including a new Ameri-
can, an Israeli, an Orthodox
teen and a BBYO member.
The BBYO Election Training
Conclave will be held the week-
end of May 20-22 at Camp
Maas. The theme is "Celebrate
Yourself... and BBYO," which
will focus on methods of build-
ing self-esteem in teens. Appli-
cations are available from
Chapter Presidents or from the
BBYO Chapter Service Center.
Application deadline is May 6.
NFTY Weekend
At Tamarack
All 8th and 9th graders from
Reform congregations are in-
vited to participate in NFTY's
FreshCo weekend, the annual
opening event for next year's
freshmen and sophomores, to
be held May 21-22 at the Tama-
rack Outdoor Education Cen-
ter in Ortonville.
FreshCo will be an opportu-
nity to meet other teens and
learn about NFTY (the North
American Federation of Temple
Youth) which consists of temple
youth groups from across the
country. NFTY's Michigan Re-
gion (formerly MSTY) offers a
full range of social and educa-
tional programs both at the lo-
cal temple youth group level and
the state level with conclaves
held throughout the year.

ZOA Committee
Sets Interviews
The Metro Detroit ZOA Schol-
arship Committee will start in-
terviewing applicants for
scholarships for the ZOA-Masa-
da Summer in Israel programs
April 24, 10 a.m. at the Zionist
Cultural Center in Southfield.
The 1994 Masada Israel pro-
grams include four geared to
college-students age 18 to 23;
these are the Masada Student
program, student program plus
Kibbutz, student program plus
scuba diving in Eilat and the
student adventure program for
nature-lovers, who will travel
Israel by foot, jeep, kayak and
camelback.
For high-school students,
there are six distinct programs,
including bar mitzvah ceremo-
ny at Masada or the Western
Wall and the leadership train-
ing program, which consists of
exploring the roots of the Jewish
community in Rome or spend-
ing a week with Israeli youth.

Ganeinu
Camp Opens
Ganeinu Day Camp is regis-
tering children ages 3-12 now
for its summer '94 sessions. The
camp features a Tiny Tots Di-
vision at 32000 Middlebelt Rd.
in Farmington Hills for five
weeks from June 27 to July 29.
The Junior Kamp meets at
4230 Middlebelt Rd. - June 27
to July 29. Ganeinu Geborim -
(boys only) meets at 4230 Mid-
dlebelt from August 1- 26.
The goal of the program is to
reinforce Jewish identity
through fun and games in the
