p

resident Clinton's cam-
paign slogan, "It's the
economy, stupid," might
be refashioned to suit
C3P2 members: Just fix the
tire, stupid.
The group stresses that the
current U.S. health system is
the best in the world, despite its
flaws. All that's needed is some
revision, not a complete over-
haul as proposed.
"Keep the car intact, fix the
tire and keep the car going," Dr.
Ehrmann says.
Among other changes, they
would like government to give
tax deductions to individuals
who purchase health insurance.
They have also called for an ex-
tension of Medicaid to cover
people who earn too much mon-
ey to qualify for the current pro-
gram, yet do not earn enough
to afford coverage.
C3P2 has garnered support
from Michigan Rep. John Jami-
an (R-Bloomfield Hills). Re-
cently, the legislator appointed
Dr. Ehrmann medical adviser
to his committee, the House Re-
publican Task Force on Health
Care Reform, which hopes to re-
lease its own bill by April's end.
"Dr. Paul Ehrmann and the
Community Coalition for Con-
cerned Physicians and Patients
provide a true picture of the
consumers and providers of the
health-care system today," Rep.
Jamian said. "They reflect the
anger and fear of individuals
whose lives will be greatly af-
fected by health-care reform.
C3P2 helps to bring people back
into the picture of reform."
Dr. Paul Ehrmann will par-
ticipate in "Dangerous Medi-
cine," a health-care reform
symposium on April 16, 10 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m. at Stevenson High
School in Livonia. For more in-
formation, call 543-2075 or
