Keynote Address:

Shlomo Avineri

As director-general of Israel's foreign ministry following the
Yom Kippur War, Shlomo Avineri oversaw the U.S.-spon-
sored disengagement of armed forces on Israel's Syrian
and Egyptian frontiers. A member of the faculty at Hebrew
University, he is a leading scholar on Israeli politics and the
political system.
