Penny Blumenstein has been
nominated to a second term as
president of the Jewish Feder-
ation Women's Division, which
will hold its 48th annual meet-
ing 11 a.m., May 25 at Congre-
gation Beth Achim.
The program will feature a
discussion of "The Ties That
Bind" a community together, by
Anna Poupko, who heads the
Department of Living Judaism
at the Jewish Education Coun-
cil of Montreal and serves as
Judaic consultant to the Mon-
treal Federation.
The election and installation
of officers and board members
will take place.
Nominees for vice presidents
include Carol Fogel, Jan
Hauser, Sheri Schiff, Edie
Slotkin and Charlotte Tessler.
Marilyn Goldberg has been
nominated as recording secre-
tary and Susie Harold as
corresponding secretary. Nom-
inated as designees to Federa-
tion's board of governors are
Fran Gold and Edie Slotkin.
Nominated to the board of di-
rectors for a second three-year
term are Diane Perlman, Meryl
Podolsky, Hope Silverman and
Jeannie Weiner.

"Feminization of the Work-
place" will be the focus of the
next dinner meeting of the Jew-
ish Federation Business and
Professional Women's Division
6 p.m. April 21 at the Townsend
Hotel, Birmingham.
The gathering, which is open
to all career-minded women in
the community, will feature
Marcey Ellen Uday, executive
vice president of Prism Perfor-
mance Systems and founder of
Contemporary Learning Sys-
tems.
An expert on team develop-
ment, Ms. Uday has developed
a variety of programs for sev-
eral major corporations, in-
cluding General Motors, Mazda.
and Michigan Bell. Her experi-
ence ranges from organizational
management consulting to in-
terpersonal skills enhancement.
There will be no solicitation
of gifts to the Allied Jewish
Campaign at the dinner meet-
ing. Registration begins at 6
p.m. with the dinner and pro-
gram at 6:30 p.m.
There is a charge for the
gathering. For reservations by
April 15 or for information, con-

Sisterhood Holds
Education Day

Congregation Beth Shalom Sis-
terhood will observe Sisterhood
Education Day at a lunch and
learn program 11:30 a.m. April
21 at the synagogue.
The Rev. James Lyons, exec-
utive director of the Ecumeni-
cal Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies, will speak on
"Issues in Jewish-Christian
Dialogue."
There is an admission fee.
