dinner in the Southland and it
will be enhanced with some ice
cold Vernor's Ginger Ale and
Sanders Hot Fudge cream puffs
to give it a Detroit flavor. I am
going to wear my Tiger baseball
cap and show off a program I
have from the Tigers of '34.
"Earthquakes and all, the
countless ex-Detroiters are glad
to be out here, but we are proud
of the years spent in Detroit.
Each blue and white table will
have a signpost reminding us

Central High. Anne Pomerantz
Feldman and others send their

JEWELRY DEPT. Amy
Opper and Scott Segal are en-
gaged for a May 21, 1995, "I Do"
session.
FRIED MATZAH is a tra-
ditional Passover dish ... but
folks who originated it thou-
sands of years ago wouldn't rec-
ognize much of it today ... Like
at the Bread Basket in Lincoln
Center, where owner Ron For-
man was teaching one of his
cooks how to make fried matzah
which he annually features all
through Passover ... when an
order came in for it made with
salami.
The cook's mouth suddenly
snapped open as he looked
awed and muttered, "I ain't
heard anything like that!" ...
Then there's fried matzah with
fillings of green peppers and
onions ... mushrooms ... jelly
... hash brown potatoes ... hot
peppers ... etc. (even chili!)
There's fried matzah being
eaten covered with catsup ...
with jelly galore ... with syrup
... (mustard, too!).
Whatever happened to the
traditional way of eating fried
matzah with sugar and cinna-
mon? ... I can remember Mom
putting a little dish of sugar and
a little dish of cinnamon on the
table ... We mixed it ourselves
in another dish ... Anything
else was looked on as being
strange.
PERSONALITY ... Ernie
Palombo ... day manager and
host at Ginopolis' On The Grille,
Middlebelt and 12 Mile ...
Many folks remember Ernie
when he had Palombo's Restau-
rant on W. Eight Mile '54-'75 ...
and say that he never looked
better than he does today. 11
