GIRIS
* Note the trends short dresses or long
dresses with a slit. Retro-inspired looks are in
vogue, but choose colors and styles to flatter
your skin tone and figure.
* Dresses with a V-shaped trim in front flat-
ter the waist Wear sleeves if you feel your
arms are large.
* Dropped waists camouflage larger hips.
Mid-length gowns demphasize legs, while
short and long gowns do not
* Shop early to get the best selection. Don't
try on too many dresses in one session, be-
cause it may become confusing. Remember
to visit the bridal shops as well as department
and specialty stores. They can usually alter
a dress just enough to make it perfect
* Keep comfort in mind. A dress that
binds or slips constantly could ruin the per-
fect evening.
* Accessorize with shoes dyed to match
your dress, sparkling hair pieces and more
elaborate than usual costume jewelry. A
classy evening bag just big enough for a few
essentials finishes the look.

BOYS
* Visit tuxedo shops well in advance to
have a good selection of the newest styles and
colors.
* Black is still the most popular color, but
most men try to match or compliment the col-
or of their date's dress with accessories.
* Express your own sense of style with
vests, ties and cummerbunds in a variety of
prints. ❑

ELEGANT
ENSEMBLES

The epitome of fine bejeweled elegance is a
matched ensemble of necklace, bracelet, ear-
rings and ring — in sculpted metals, pearls, di-
amonds or semiprecious gems.
The hottest thing in fine jewelry today is
combining gold and silver in attractive, fresh-
looking pieces that are valuable yet still con-
siderably less expensive than solid gold or
platinum pieces.
Pearls are, however, the stone of the season
nothing looks fresher with warm-weather
fashion. ❑
