Middle East reaffirmed that pri-
vate industry, backed by polit-

States, is well on the way to
achieving the economic cooper-

the stage for political stability
in the region.
At a panel discussion titled

Angeles. A major focus of the
Forum was the role of high-tech
development in "the emerging
Middle East."
Mr. Levine pointed out that
both programs in which he par-
ticipates involve a United
States initiative to support pri-
vate business ventures;
Builders for Peace, to encour-
age cooperative ventures be-
tween Israelis and Palestinians
in the West Bank and Gaza for
the economic benefit of both,
and the Joint Commission, to
encourage joint ventures in
technology between the United
States and Israel, also with the
aim of improving the domestic
economy of both parties.
