Mr. Green's company, which includes 15 full-time and seven part-time employees, provides market research, expansion planning and site selection for both retailers and developers. "For example, if a national chain wants to move into Den- ver, well look into the number of stores, locations and what sales volumes it can expect," he explained. If Mr. Green's company is a barometer, the economy should continue to improve in the com- ing months. "Our business was down from 1989-91, but there has been steady growth since 1992," he said. "We're about a year ahead of the economy, and it looks like the recovery should be continuing into 1995. Detroit is continuing to be a hotbed of retail activity." A 1980 graduate of Michigan State University, Mr. Green earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a spe- cialty in hotel and restaurant management. He was the assistant man- ager of the Kellogg Center ho- tel on campus from 1977-80, and he spent four more years in the hotel industry on the East Coast before joining his family's firm as an analyst in 1984. "Coining back to Detroit was the best decision I could have made, both personally and pro- fessionally," said Mr. Green, who is single.
