Chamber Group
Sponsors Camp

The Lyric Chamber Ensemble
will sponsor "Summer Music
Experience" — a chamber mu-
sic camp for students age 12-17
years — which will take place
from July 25 through Aug. 5 at
Oakland Community College in
Auburn Hills. Classes are Mon-
day through Friday, 9 a.m.-4
p.m. Free bus transportation
will be available for Detroit
students.
Applications can be obtained
from the Lyric Chamber En-
semble, 357-1111. Applications
must be received before April 1.
Auditions are required after an
application has been made to
the camp. The auditions will be
held April 14-16 and April 21-
23.

BBYO Offers
Recognition

Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization will hold
its annual Adviser Recognition
Night 7 p.m. March 24 at the
Agency for Jewish Education
Building (UHS).
The theme this year is "From
the Bottom of Our Hearts."
Refreshments will be served
following the formal presenta-
tions. There is no charge and
the dress is semi-formal. This
event is co-sponsored by B'nai
B'rith Michigan Regional Coun-
cil, B'nai B'rith Women's Coun-
cil of Metropolitan Detroit,
Zeiger Lodge of B'nai B'rith and
the BBYO board of directors.

Teens Play
Laser Tag

The BBYO/JCC Teen Connec-
tion will go to Phazerland in
Farmington, to play laser tag,
March 20. The bus will leave
from the Maple/Drake JCC at
5:30 p.m. and return at 9:30
p.m. The program will include
two games of laser tag, a pizza
dinner, and transportation. This
program is open to Teen Con-
nection members and non-
members in grades 7 and 8.
There is a charge. A special
membership rate is offered for
those who join now through Au-
gust 1.

High School
Yearbook '94

The Jewish News will honor
the area's brightest Jewish
high school seniors in our
annual "yearbook" in May.
Area high school princi-
pals have been asked to dis-
tribute our form to their five
Jewish students with the
highest grade point average
(minimum 3.6 required).
If you feel you qualify but
have not been contacted,
please check with your prin-
cipal. Deadline for submis-
sion to The Jewish News is
April 21.

There will be a Zionist student
forum for high school and col-
lege students on "Jerusalem —
Is Israel Losing the Old City?"
held on March 20 from 1-4 p.m.
at the Zionist Cultural Center,
Ten Mile Road west of South-
field.
Rabbi Chaim Bergstein,
Clara Gaba and Hymie Cutler
will speak on the Jewish her-
itage, recent history and cur-
rent policies of Israel and the
United States followed by stu-
dents discussing the issues.
A video on Jerusalem will be
shown. There will be a free light
lunch.

Speech Reading for the Hear-
ing Impaired will start a new
eight-week class beginning
April 6 at 1 p.m. at the
Maple/Drake building.
The class will be conducted
by Marilyn Lewis. There is a
charge. For information and to
