Adat Shalom
Service Plans
Adat Shalom Synagogue will
hold a Family Shabbat Service
at 11 a.m. March 19. This ser-
vice has been designed to en-
hance the Shabbat morning for
those with children under the
age of 13 who desire to worship
as a family. Students of all ages
will participate in the service.
It is sponsored by the Adat
Shalom Jewish Experiences for
Families Committee and coor-
dinated by Ron Leff, director of
education.
Adat Shalom Synagogue
families will observe the begin-
ning of Pesach with a Siyum
HaB'khor at 7:15 a.m. March
24. This special service and
study session, traditionally held
on the morning of erev Pesach,
takes place on Thursday morn-
ing this year because erev Pe-
sach is Shabbat.
The Siyum HaB'khor grew
out of the Fast of the First Born,
a tradition originally for first
born sons to commemorate the
sparing of the Hebrew first born
in the 10th plague. The obliga-
tion to fast is waived by atten-
dance at the siyum. Everyone,
whatever his/her birth order, is
invited to attend. A breakfast
will follow.
For information, call the syn-
agogue office, 851-5100.
Temple Kol Ami
Music Service
The annual Jewish Music Sea-
son Service at Temple Kol Ami
will take place March 18 at 8
p.m. The theme of this service
is the 100th Yahrtzeit of Louis
Lewandowski, (1821-1894),
whose works for the synagogue
are among those most familiar
and widely used.
His settings of the liturgy will
be heard both in the service and
in the Sermon In Song, "The
Music of Lewandowski —
Beloved, Enduring." The tem-
ple choir, under the direction of
Nathalie M. Conrad, will sing.
Susan Greener will be the can-
-torial soloist. An Oneg Shabbat
will follow the service.
Beth Achim

host an erev Passover and a
Shabbat dinner 6 p.m. March
25 at the synagogue.

dinner at 7 p.m.

ner and reservations are re-
