Else To?" Dr. Friedman is host
of CNN's daily talk show
"Sonya Live." She is a certified
sex therapist and marriage
counselor.

Shabbat Services are made pos-
sible by a grant from the Max
M. Fisher foundation of De-
troit's Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion. It is offered by the
Michigan Board of Rabbis, in
cooperation with The Jewish
News and the Jewish Commu-
nity Center.

Parenting Class
Is Offered

Harlene Appleman, director of
Field Services for the Whizin
Institute for Jewish Family Life,
will discuss "Pro-active Par-
enting: Creating Lasting Val-
ues In a Throw Away World"
7:30-9:30 p.m. March 9. She will
present a formula for child rear-
ing that involves Jewish
rhythms and routine as a
framework for raising self-re-
liant children. The program will
be held at the Applebaum Jew-
ish Parenting Center in West
Bloomfield.
The Parenting Center will of-
fer 'The Kitchen Table" for par-
ents and babies 9:30-11 am. on
Wednesdays, March 9-April 27.
"Rainbows — Living and
Dealing with Loss" is a program
for children ages 5-16 and their
parents who are coping with
separation, divorce or death in
a family. This workshop is of-
fered in conjunction with Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women
under the guidance of facilita-
tor Irma Starr and guests on
Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
March 10-May 19 at Congre-
gation Shaarey Zedek, South-
field. This series is open to the
public and there is a fee.
"Making Family Memories"
is a hands-on class in which in-
structor Laurie Goldstein will
present step-by-step instruc-
tions to help create family mem-
ories by learning how to
organize family photos into
albums.
Participants should bring six-
12 photos of the same subject
and scissors 7-9 p.m. March 15
and 22.
There are fees for the classes.
